AB  - Automatic face recognition system is an important component of intelligent human computer interaction systems for biometric. It is an attractive biometric approach, to distinguish one person from another. This paper deals with the edge detection technique with a modified form of SVM kernel classifier is utilized to take account of prior knowledge about facial structures and is used as the alternative feature extractor.
